This is what an anarchist looks like

As is in the style and purpose of the Archivio Giuseppe Pinelli, we have mainly dealt in “history from below”, that is, in those little individual stories, those lesser known episodes, which have actually constituted the real connective tissue of anarchist history.

We have thus sought to bring to light, through memoirs and firsthand accounts, the motley human assortment – sometimes reluctant and reserved in telling their story, or having their story told – that has always been the lifeblood of social transformation movements.

Far from grand narratives, this attempt aims to “put a face” to anarchism – or rather to anarchisms – by going past the well-known figures, into the unknown territory of the protagonists of these small stories.

The result is a mosaic of differences that is by no means intended to create stereotypes, but more simply invites us to flip through this family album to detect similarities and diversities.
